Proving age discrimination in the workplace

As a previous post highlighted, age discrimination could occur in any industry and for various reasons. Being mistreated in the work environment on the basis of age is a difficult situation to experience, and employees in Minnesota and elsewhere should know the available options.

The longevity of a career is often dependent on the success of the employee and whether or not the employee decides to remain at that position. While situations might occur when an individual might seek a different role, get a promotion or start an entirely different career, employees in Minnesota and elsewhere do not expect a career to end because a younger employee has been brought in to do the job. Such an occurrence may be a form of employment discrimination that is based on the age of the employee.

How does the ADA help those suffering disability discrimination?

As a previous post noted, various laws have been passed and amended to help people with disabilities. Workers in Minnesota and elsewhere who live with disabilities may or may not experience issues in the workplace due to their disabilities. However, if a workplace does not have proper accommodations, an employee is facing mistreatment or an employee was wrongfully terminated, the Americans with Disability Act could help.

Laws influencing the Americans with Disabilities Act

The existence of disability discrimination in the workplace is disheartening and unfortunate. However, various laws have been passed and amended to help disabled workers. Going in order, section 501 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits the federal government, as an employer, from discriminating against individuals with qualified disabilities.
